The Boynton Beach Inlet pump station is comprised of an 8" very high pressure water jet fastened to the bottom of a ~2ft dia intake pipe suspended on a crane boom. It's lowered near the ocean floor where the jet stirs up the sand to suspend it in the water while the 2' intake pipe simultaneously sucks the sand laden water in. It is then pumped under the Boynton Beach inlet floor to a point about 200 yards on the North side of the Inlet.

The outfall pipe emerges from the beach, which extends about 30 yards out over the ocean and is elevated about eight feet above the water. It shoots a water/sand stream about another 25 yards out into the ocean.

These were taken back in June with my S3100, way before I knew I wanted a D5100.
