Well heres my best shot of our local eagle. It was overcast so i didnt have much luck with lighting.

I had it set on bulb. There is one thing i forgot to do before these shots and it was to switch off my HDR. So, all my values for f stop are different. I was shooting some wierd clouds earlier and i was shooting bracket mode. Heres the clouds.

I think these are early formation mammatus clouds.

But I could be wrong! :)

Pete theses were some wierd clouds. never saw this type before. They looked like they were painted.
Lscha- As for settings, i would get a remote cord first. If your using the 18-55 go wide angle set your dial to bulb, f stop to around 16, ISO around 400. Focus on a near object and set lens to manual. Push your remote switch and hold till you get a lightning flash and release. you should get something. I try to release after 20 seconds or so. Leaving on too long will draw in too much light. At least it does when the neighborhood is bright. Im going to try to get out of town during next storm.

I love absolutely love cotton ball clouds. LOL that is what we call them and they don't pass through very often maybe once a year if that. but they are my absolute favorite cloud ever. rather freaky when the entire sky is filled with them and tinted yellowish orange. but never the less amazingly beautiful.
