Day 51, 2013 - We're So Small

It is so difficult to show how small we are next to the mountain and the trees. This shot seemed to really catch how tiny we are.

I forgot to add my "Learned" on that photo.

At this point it's not exactly learned but the culmination of knowledge and the opportunity to put it all together so here it is...

If you know the aperture you want, the shutter speed needed for the shot, and you're simply out of any more available light to add in then the ISO will have to be stepped up until you get to the exposure needed.

This learning moment is another gained as a result of doing this project. Thrilled I started this.

Day 56, 2013 - Video LED's

Here is a close-up crop of my video LED light array. I feel like I'm leaving so much on the floor without a macro.

My budget does not include a macro lens yet so I opted for a close-up filter kit. Tried a Hoya +4 on my 50mm today to see what it would do.

I have some, but the DOF is so small. Like in your picture, while it looks good, the table just in front is what ended up in sharp focus and just a few millimetters off that mark and it starts to lose the sharpness.

Ultimately, I need to get off my lazy butt and find that tree that grows money in my backyard. My kids believe I have one so it must be true.

Day 57, 2013 - Safari Big Cats

The third grade student are doing dioramas of their favorite animals. Some of the kids have done some really cool big cat projects. So here is my picture of the day of a big cat... in a little box.

Day 58, 2013 - Pencils

It was an idea that I played with... didn't work as it did in my minds eye. Needed a higher aperture, but this journey is about learning. And we usually learn more from our failures.
