Well you have all encouraged me to take my photos out and see if there is interest beyond project 365. So I printed about 20 selected images and had them bound in a book to show.
I then wrote this "intro" to put into the inside cover and I want to hear what you guys think of it. Open to constructive comments (but be nice)
Back-story:
This project is an ongoing and ever changing peek at a small slice of the planet earth. All the images were shot within a 300-foot radius in the heart of Hollywood, CA.
Right here between Madam Tussaud's and the Chinese Theater.
It’s just a nanosecond really less than 1/200[SUP]th[/SUP] of a second that captures each look and each emotion. It is an exploration of how I see the people that pass us by all day every day. I come to the same spot every time and am now a part of the street scene. I don’t hide and I want the people to know I’m taking these images; I want them to see me just like I see them.
Each image is candid and never planned. I am never more than 15 feet away from the subject. But in that fraction of a second you can see who the people are, it’s almost like you can feel what they are thinking. We look into their eyes and through that themselves.
Some people sit and chat with me while I shoot, some just keep going on their day. I show people images if they want to see what I am doing and I also post new pictures daily and people can look for themselves on it.
This all morphed from an online “nikonites project 365” and through that I became focused on this slice of Los Angeles and the people that pass by. It is becoming a part of expressing my appreciation for the people in my city.
I still post daily in the project 365 and want to thank my online friends for their friendship, critique and encouragement. Here’s to the online tribe known as Nikonites!
