Most people notice me but just go about their day. Some don't seem to even see me. A few chat or want to see pics of themselves. The girl in the bonus shot day 120 chatted for a bit and the next time she walked by is when she gave me the wave. I had earlier pictures of her but the wave was the best shot. No one has been aggressively angry at me. A very few have asked me not to shot pics of them, so I don't.

Bonus shot :)

This guy is a regular in the area I go to often he collects cans and bottles to redeem at recycling centers. Easy going and friendly. The trash cans are very busy places with a lot of activity of people putting things in and people taking things out. The majority throw stuff away and an ongoing activity is people getting recycling cans and bottles and the street people (drugs or just homeless) looking for left over food items. I was fascinated watching the process of how people recover food. They collect a variety of uneaten items and put it into a single container after a careful sniff. But unexpectedly they did the same with coffee drinks. Just combine partially full coffee drinks and combine into a single cups. Living on the street requires true stamina and creativity it seems.

I was at Wal mart the other day walking down the aisle when I passed this dude wearing a black Leica cap...I went up to him and said man that is a cool cap are you a camera person? He said no I work on instruments that are made by Leica...I have two of these hats! hahaha

If you are harmless people will usually oblige you...but you must have something extraordinary Rick because you get away with some good ones that are a bit different than average jose camino portraitisto... :)

Thanks Jeff. Here's one you will appreciate. I'm in a Subway the other day having a sub and I hear what sounds like a nice motorcycle really close. I turn around in it's a dude in a a wheelchair powered by a gas engine. So we start talking about it. He built it himself, it is powered by a Honda 70 minibike engine and had a 1938 Briggs and Straten exhaust pipe and sounded sweet. In the Subway he pushed it like a regular wheel chair but once outside he let her rip. Super cool!!!

Doing sh!t like putting a 70cc motor on a wheelchair is probably how he ended up in a wheelchair in the first place! LOL

#369 girl with camera...I would say that is a Fuji X Pro 1 (APC sensor IC lenses look at how small it is)...except I thought they only made them in black! :)

Rick I will say it again - you take some of the best "Street Photos" that I have ever seen :) Keep them coming.

I second this. Your shots are very nice. You seem to know how to work your contrasts to produce very pleasing B&W.

Rick,

The thing about your people photos is that they each look like they have a story to tell. So much detail and character lies with each look. Some look busy and don't want to be bothered, others seem a little vain, while the rest are in their own worlds just going on about their day totally unaware they are being looked at.

Interesting photos, so clear and so full of wonder.

Regards,

Wow Wendy that is a very appreciated comment. I find it amazing you can capture so much of someone by just pausing to look at 1/500 of a second of their lives.

Moon

_DSC5886 - Version 2.jpg

This was shot with my 70-300mm VR f4.5 (@280mm) -- pretty heavy crop to fill frame in PP

ISO 100, f/11, 1/125th
(basic daylight exposure - since the moon just reflects the sun)
