May 25 --- Day 146

Last year at this time I had NOTHING growing or blooming because of a dry winter and spring drought . . . I am so grateful for this year's moisture.

Spent the day cleaning out the barn, organizing tools and tack, and cleaning tack. This is the "after" . . . I should have a taken a "before", but it was too depressing.

Forest Hike . . . went hiking today in the forest . . . didn't realize that this would be burned a week later.

Your picture of the woods before the fire and what it looks like now reminds me of the 72 flood here. There was a lot of changes to the area after that. We were one of the lucky ones. The waters rose but, only got to the top step of the basement. It never got in the house. Sometimes a site you don't want to see.

Wow. You were lucky. We're getting ready for the monsoons . . . the rivers here will swell and make it impossible to get into Ruidoso. People who live by the lake and who survived the fire, now may not survive the flood.

My sensitive little guy, Satchi (lots of pet photos this week . . . was afraid to leave the house because of the fires in the area.)
