Now a golf cart would have gone over very well for me, but not the property owner. I had to walk because it is "Posted" property. I could have shot from the road, but then no mountains or sunset in the background.

What ails me is called COPD which is just a new fancy name for Emphysema. It also gives them the opportunity to charge more for the Meds (new name, new meds). It just keeps me from being able to keep up with all you young people.

Sorry to hear about your "fancy" ailment. :-D I have family with the same thing. I wish there was a way to help you all. Take care of yourself buddy. :)

Day Thirty Four

Ok, I wanted to try some more HDR. I thought I had some beautiful sunsets from the top of the mountain, but CS5 couldn't align them properly so it looked like a shaky image.
I did get one image that merged ok. Guess what? Another tree. This one is called "Sumkindapinetree" (is that right Pete?)

I also decided everyone needed to get mooned.

Thank you Pete and Rick and Marcel.

I planned my arrival for about 30 minutes before sunset, and thought I might have blown the timing because I didn't realize the walk was so far. I tried some shots with the trunk blocking the setting sun, but they just didn't have any impact, so I shifted around so the sun was to the left. I think I really need to get a new camera so I can bracket. Doing it manually stinks.

That's exactly why I upgraded to the D5100, and the new sensor is amazing. Even with auto-bracketing, the best reults are with a tripod. Auto does help you freeze the scene, especially if the clouds are moving fast.

Day Thirty Five

My granddaughter (7) had a basketball game in Fredricksburg today. My wife has been up there sitting (until tomorrow) all week, so I drove up for the game. At 7, they don't keep score and about the only rules they enforce is the out of bounds line and aggressive behavior. It was fun to watch.

As a reward, I took the girls out for a treat. Needless to say, some of you will recognize this guy. Imagine having lunch with an overgrown rat at Chuck E. Cheese.

As a post script, I was going to mention that this may be a relative of Pete, but Pete's been sick, and I think that might not be very nice to him. You decide if I mean Pete or the Rat.

Day Thirty Six

My wife and I decided to take these two grand daughters to Brunch at the club. It was a cold and crappy morning. It was snowing for a while but no accumulation. The younger of the two loves rocks so this shot was a natural for her.

Just so you'll know, these girls don't know how to act in front of a camera. They see the camera and you can see the results.

Remember the "Rat" from day thirty five? My wife was checking pockets for laundry and found these tokens to play their games.
Needless to say I decided to take a photo of them today and promptly lose them before going back to Fredricksburg.

Day Thirty Eight

This thing is called a Sing-a-ma-jig. Squeeze it's belly and it makes a sound. Keep squeezing and the sounds play out a song. This particular one sings Skip To Ma Lou. Now my wife loves these things and has about a dozen and each sings a different song. The grandkids like them to so it's noisy singalong when they're all here.

OK people. You know what's coming up. I almost never have these things in my hand long enough to read the text. I just like to eat them.

PS: Pete? I checked one complete bag and none said anyting about a Trikini.

Day Forty Two

About 90 minutes ago the sun was out. Then about an hour ago we had an "Ice/Snow/Sleet" storm. Now 30 minutes ago the sun was out again so I took a shot of our Icy accumulation.

Just so you'll know, this is not a normal winter for us. We've usually had two measurable snowfalls by now. Nothing like in the Great White North, but when your locality's only snow removal equipment is a guy named Bubba with a sheet of plywood duck taped to the front of his 4WD pickup, a few inches of snow is a lot.

I'm starting to lose it. Wasn't sure what day this was at first. Had to check the previous photo.

This is a 3D Jigsaw puzzle. It's one of four I have.

Nice shot of a "Man Eating Doughnut"

I'm posting two because technically, I didn't take the first one. I was the one on the slide. I did take the second shot of the two X-RayTechs so I'd be technically correct in this challange. After the Camera shooting, we did the X-Ray shooting.

What a letdown.

was going through my Grandma's sewing basket and found these little decorative scissors. I was taking the shots when my wife commented. "I was wondering what happened to those". It turns out that instead of a cherished family treasure it was a little item she had purchased a few years ago.

On a positive note, I found her lost scissors for her.
