Thank you, Marcel and Jen!

This was a tough shoot for me. I did some product photos for a local artist. The pieces were too big and heavy (clay and wood sculptures about 3 ft tall) to drag to my studio and his porch was very small, so I couldn't set up enough lights.

Helene, wonderful job on the "evening lights". Everything about it is just right. It's got that feel of softness and peacefulness. GREAT!!!

It's a poor craftsman who blames his porch. I think I read that somewhere.

But, seriously, there's no background that could coexist with this piece, so the blackness is perfect. While understanding the limitation on lighting, did you try any shots with more variance between the key and fill lights?

LOL. You're right, Don.

Had to use the window as fill light. There really wasn't any more room to set up another light. This was a "quickie" job because he waited till the last minute to get someone, so this was more a mission of mercy. If he needs something fancier, I'll redo in a larger area.

I appreciate your input :)

Thank you, Marcel, Pete and Jen! I haven't given up on star trails. The moon is just too bright!

"High on a Hill . . ." (lived a lonely goatherd! . . . sorry, I have songs going through my head!)
Downloaded a trial of Silver Efex Pro to see if I really like it, so am experimenting with BW.

I like it. Lot more controls (brightness, contrast, structure, individual filters and hues) than what's in Lightroom. Plus, you can use control points to adjust specific areas instead of the whole pic. This will expire on payday, so I'm buying it. If you're serious about BW (and I know you are), this is really the best.

Spent Friday and Saturday in a "reminiscing" mood, so the shots for those days are purely "moment memory" shots.
