"Universal Movement"

This is my first attempt at shooting star trails. It would have been better if I could have found the North Star (and had a wider angle lens LOL) I set the intervals too long and disturbed the sequence at one point (you can see the break in the trails) In any case, the different colors of the stars just fascinate me . . . I just love stars!

41 shots at 30 sec f/1.4 24mm , compiled in Startrails software (which is free)

Ah Ah... Abstract practice... ;-)
Nice shot Helene, what wouild be different between the 41 shots and an open exposure? Would it be only just the noise and hot pixels? I've never been beyond the 30 seconds mark so far.
For the wide angle thing, if you'd go FX... then you have all you want.

Very interesting, I too like the colors and seperation, makes it more interesting than just streaks. Might be interesting to try when one of the planets is visable.

So it looks like I managed to screw up again, I posted the above comment to the picture of the stars, but anyway I love this picture too, the star trails are great.

Thank you all for your comments. I love experimenting in photography . . . amazing how much I learn just by trying something different.
Before I researched this thoroughly, I set the shutter to bulb and exposed it for 5 minutes. Got all excited when I looked on the lcd panel . . . thought WOW the camera picked up all the stars and there are SO many. Then when I uploaded to the computer, I realized that the "many stars" were hot pixels. LOL Every once in a while I drift back to the days of film!

"Visiting the Vet"

Nice shot Helene, I love the shadow on the wall and the tone. I only find the shoelace to be a little distracting for the eyes. It competes with the dog for my attention.
I also noticed that you were able to unglue the 24 from your camera...

Great capture.

Please don't change anything!

This should be shown to your vet and it should be hung in the waiting room.

JMHO

Pete

BTW: I look at the shoelace as an anchor to the picture. Without the shoe or the lace, you would not know if the black area is a curtain or a leg. With the lace in place, you anchor the picture in the Vet's office, not in the living room at home.

Still JMHO

Thanks, Marcel, Jen and Pete! I agree, Pete, that the shoelaces need to be there. I initially thought to crop it out but it completely changed the picture . . . you could not tell that it was a leg.

Yes, Marcel, I sent the lens back yesterday. I'm surprised that all of you had not heard my "weeping and wailing'! LOL

Love this pic! Dog has that "ruh roh" look on his face. lol. Add one to agreeing that the shoe needs to stay....its far from distracting, and does add to the feel of being in a vets office, with its owner. Nice job as usual Helene!
