Think your out of luck getting the side film done.

Kodak subcontracted color side processing work to Dwayne's Photo, an independent facility in Kansas, which was the world's last Kodachrome processing facility.

Dwayne's Photo announced in late 2010 that it would process all Kodachrome rolls received at the lab by 30 December 2010, after which further processing would cease. The end of professional processing meant the end of the Kodachrome era. As Dwayne's final processing deadline approached, thousands of stored-up rolls of film were sent in for processing Once film received by the deadline had been developed, the world's last K-14 processing machine was taken out of service The final roll to be processed was exposed by Dwayne Steinle, owner of Dwayne's Photo.

OMG, I can't believe you went to Wal-Mart with your film. My experience with my Wal-mart, it would be the last place on earth I get anything done at. I'd rather burn my roll of film!

That's the major reason for my hesitation to get a film camera. There's not many folks left processing it, and I really don't want to set up a darkroom in my house.

Not entirely true, Rick. They're still processing slide film. I just talked to them. Kodakchrome was a special type of processing --required a different set of chemicals. If slide film requires E-6 processing (Fujifilm-velvia), they still process it.

There's actually more than you realize. The ones who are surviving are the ones who are doing digital services side-by-side. There are some real die-hard film users out there and I think photographers should maybe shoot a "token" roll of film to keep these labs in business. That's what I decided to do.

Great idea Helene!!!

BTW, nice shots above. After seeing your weekly contest submission of the pup (which is gorgeous), I may not scramble to enter this week (16 to 18 hour work days the past few week have left me very little creative photography time).

Oh, no, Chris! Now you HAVE to enter, otherwise I will feel really bad! Creativity is also a passive process . . . you can work at something else and have an idea germinating in the back of your mind. Just do it! You have 10 hours!! LOL

The poor girl looks heart broken with worry. It is such a great picture I have to ask is the puppy alright?

Thanks for all the comments! The little girl was just trying to be careful to not squish the puppy. Puppy was fine . . . just in for her baby shots :)

Guess what my reasons are for being late with posting . . . I won't bore you with the details . . . one fried external drive and a system re-install and I'm up and running. . . again!

I miss your daily shots Helene. Are you waiting for that film to be processed? :) I still have a few rolls for the Hasselblad. But I probably would miss the post processing part that I like so so much. I know one can scan, but to go to all that trouble and ending up scanning??? But these rolls are taking space in my freezer. One day I'll have to used them or dispose of them.
I'm just waiting for a reasonably priced Hasselblad full frame back to hit the market. With the numbers they have sold, I'm sure there would be a huge market if the price was right. I still play with mine just because I still love the feel of it.

Nice Helene, I see from the exif that you still have THE lens… :)
One of these days it will stay with you I'm sure. Seems like a great lens to work with.

Sorry to hear about your computer problems. I've been through a few myself. It's so annoying.

It always seems like such a waste of time :-( I think that's why I put off dealing with it . . . would rather be be doing photos . . . oh, well . . . just had to immerse myself in the process and get it done. The worst part is having to reinstall all the software, filters and looking up all the product keys LOL

Now I have to catch up on everybody's posts!
