OK JEN. I got one too, had it about a month now your going to like it. I have not tried it off camera yet. Only complaint I have is trying to get the little white bounce card out. Sometimes mine can be a pain, I can live with that.
Hmmm, Im not so sure about that flash ring Jen. Seems like you would be better off bouncing the flash off the ceiling. The examples shown for the ring all seem to have harsh shadows behind the subjects. To me, it looks like those shots were taken with a diffused on camera flash. Maybe it's just me? Might I recommend a Gary Fong collapsable lightsphere instead? I use one and LOVE it. It allows you to bounce the light, and distribute a soft diffused light toward the subject at the same time.
Very creative on the DIY, but there are many things the GF has that this does not.....first being collapsible and easy to transport...then there are the grips which keep it from falling off the flash,...fits more than 1 flash, and a removable dome that and also be inverted etc...just to name a few....I am all for DIY and if it works, fantastic! Just thought I would toss some things in there to keep in mind.
Thanks for pointing that out Joe., You guys have been kicking this around, and it's been eating at me all day that someone here made one. Just thought I point it out. You have the GF Globe and you should know the difference. The options are out there. IMHO in the interim for a couple of bucks I try it, and down the road get the GF.
Nice shot on the teacup, Jen, especially composition! Pretty dinner set you have. Love the hyacinth! I can't believe yours are coming up before mine! Yay, spring is on the way!
