Yup, very small town. There were 28 people in my high school class! It's grown a bit since then, though. I think average class size these days is around a whopping 60 kids.

Day 119
Street Photography

The cup is empty

Heart wrenching day. Shot over 400 Photos (not all keepers). Going through them I got up to #35 and had to post it as my 365 before I looked at any more. I know I have more like this, but it's getting late and it's been a long day of traveling.

Day 120
Jailbird

Keeping with Pete's theme today, I give you "Jailbird"

The Killdeer (Charadrius vociferus) is a medium-sized plover.
Adults have a brown back and wings, a white belly, and a white breast with two black bands. The rump is tawny orange. The face and cap are brown with a white forehead. They have an orange-red eyering.

Their name comes from their frequently heard call. These birds will frequently use a distraction display ("broken-wing act") to distract predators from their nests. This involves the bird walking away from its nesting area holding its wing in a position that simulates an injury and then flapping around on the ground emitting a distress call. The predators then think they have easy prey and are attracted to this seemingly injured bird and away from the nest. If the parent sees that a potential predator is not following them, they will move closer and get louder until they get the attention of the predator. This is repeated until the predator is far from the nest, and the killdeer suddenly "heals" and flies away. <web source>

I am just looking at this thread and noticed you have not put the exif data with the pictures. Not asking you to go back but could you include that. I know for me, when I am learning how to do different things with the D90 I learn from what you all do. Having that data allows me to test out your pics and then adapt to what I want to do. I like the killdear btw:)

Day 121
Prehistoric

Looks like I'm stuck on Wildlife for now. Been chasing this guy for about two weeks now. Drove into my location today and spooked this guy while driving in, but I was ready for him this time and got a couple shots off. It's a shame I got him in flight with no back round. I want to get him in his environment, really a incredible bird on land and in the air. Watch in the coming weeks for more photos of him in my 365.

Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae, common near the shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North and Central America as well as the West Indies and the Galápagos Islands.

It is the largest North American heron, with a head-to-tail length of 91–140 cm (36–55 in), a wingspan of 167–201 cm (66–79 in), and a weight of 2–3.6 kg (4.4-8 lbs). Notable features include slaty flight feathers, red-brown thighs, and a paired red-brown and black stripe up the flanks; the neck is rusty-gray, with black and white streaking down the front; the head is paler, with a nearly white face, and a pair of black plumes running from just above the eye to the back of the head. The feathers on the lower neck are long and plume-like; it also has plumes on the lower back at the start of the breeding season. The bill is dull yellowish, becoming orange briefly at the start of the breeding season, and the lower legs gray, also becoming orangey at the start of the breeding season. <web source>

I have never seen a killdeer, that's a good shot. He has some big eyes. I love the shot of the Blue Heron, those are beautiful birds.

Day 122

Trying to stay away from Wildlife, 300mm, and Flowers. So this is best I could come up with today. After the fact should have shot it HDR but just not into anything today.

Looking back now at my EXIF didn't even reset my ISO back to 200, still had the camera set for 300mm ISO. Well that explains why I had so many adjustments in Lightroom, Duh

Rick, the more I see of your work, the more I realize how good you've become. You have a great eye for composition, my friend. Really good work, bud.

Day 123
"Hope"

Personal photo today

Puppies are now 8 weeks and one day. The first one to be sold (Hope) went to it's new home today and will be moving to Southern Illinois in a few weeks with her new owners.

The two remaining puppies will be going to their new homes on Mothers day. One will be going to one of our friends and the other one my Mom fell in love with and is taking her. So we will have close contact with two of the three from the first litter.

Next litter will be due sometime in October or November.
