Nice shot Chuck! It's got it all, with double track, signals, crossovers and a train. I notice that you shot at 1/1250 Sec.. I've recently bumped my speed up from 1/640 to 1/800 Sec., as I was maybe noticing a very slight blurriness on moving trains. Train speeds on my local lines aren't that fast, perhaps 45 to 50 MPH. Speeds on the former ACL main are higher and I move up into your range when there.

Thanks Sandpatch. The trains on this line really fly along. Not sure what track speed is but I'd guess 60 mph. I was noticing that some of my shots were showing a hint of motion blur. I moved up the ISO & bumped the shutter speed. Lucky for me my Fuji does well at higher ISO values.

From an old low-rez scan of a slide taken in Montgomery, AL in June 1984, an SOU freight arrives. Sadly, this former Central of Georgia branch was removed long ago. NS no longer serves Montgomery.

Wow a high hood GP30! They were one of my favorite modern locomotives. Guess I'm showing my age as they are far from modern these days. The only ones I see now are low hoods that CSX has turned into road slugs. Sandpatch I'm glad you snapped this moment in time that is gone forever. :encouragement:

On my phone so use a copy from my Facebook upload of the flying Scotsmen that came to cleethorpes at 6:50am on the 11th June 2016....it was the day after my father in laws funeral...he loved trains so sadly he missed it. We went to see it in honour of him....he died from cancer on the 2nd June 2016.

Thanks so much Chuck. Yep, the GP-30s were once the hottest thing on the road and they indeed still look cool. I found a Soo GP-30 in Mundelein, IL in August of '78, complete with Alco trucks:

Great captures Steve. Great Britain has such wonderful railway museums. I hope I can see them someday, including other interests as the Imperial War Museum in Duxford.

Cheers Sandpatch - If you are ever in the UK, you would certainly enjoy the Nation Railway Museum in York, it's a huge, free museum with a HUGE range of locomotives from all over the world - Even one of the first Japanese bullet trains!

Stumbled across this little guy at the Monnett Ohio Co-op. Looks like half a GE center cab. All shiny & ready to shunt cars around the elevator for harvest season.

No problem -- your awesome wildlife shots are welcome anywhere. Do the 'gators ever eat the birds that often seem to be standing in close proximity?
