Are squirrels carnivorous? I spotted this little guy on my railing the other day, munching away on a bone of some sort. Summer BBQ with the family, I guess...

new feeder installed and the 1st bird i get isn't a bird , fluffy tailed tree rat aka Squirrel lol
the tie straps are so no damage is caused to the tree :)

This guy is defending his garbage can against another squirrel. He was really throwing his tail around in warning. It must have been some really gooood garbage in that can!

I dunno man, it sure looked like a bone to me. I didn't have my camera when I first spotted him scurrying along the rail with it, which is a shame because I could have gotten a much clearer shot that close to me. But check this out. It's a pic i didn't use because I missed focus, but I think you can still make it out in the crop. Doesn't that look like a bone end to you? I'm telling you, it really did look like it to me in the flesh (so to speak). I may not remember much from my almost 20 years of professional cooking in my youth, but I'm pretty sure I can still spot the difference between a rib and a roll!

I see what you mean from that angle, it does look very "ribbish". I thought crust because of the bits of stuff stuck in his whiskers. Seeing something up close in person is 1000x better though, and props for getting a shot of it! Once, I saw a hornet dragging a massive spider across our garden. I didnt even know our local spiders got that big, not to mention a hornet able to drag it around but sometimes you get to see the strangest things in nature!
