Here is a snap as the flash is on camera in a bounce position and with the built in reflector card. I had to adjust the reds to a minus 15 for Hue and Saturation but was pleased with the skin tones with Nikon D500 and Tamron zoom lens. Hand held. The Flash is Flash Point Zoom in TTL mode. These were quick shots as she was getting to leave with her parents.

Ah, shucks, You shouldn't have Lawrence but I do appreciate it. Hmmm, was this photo for me, or was it for you. I am trying to picture the conversation proceeding this portrait session. Did you tell her that she just had to pose for you again as a favor to a poor old man in America? Well, whatever, it is an excellent portrait of an extremely lovely lady. When you see her again tell her she has a shout out from America and a well done to yourself. I would very much like to see you do more portraits as i think you have a talent for it.

I shall most definitely let her know she is world famous on the nikonites portraits thread. :)

Thanks for the compliment mate. i do enjoy taking portraits and still get a thrill out of seeing one that just appeals to me. In a way I think portraits are very personal to the photographer and the subject because there are some that I simply love of the people I have only known for a short while yet find those same photos don't appeal quite as much to the subject (while others do) as they see themselves differently.

But here is something I learned.
If you take a photo of the famous Mona Lisa and flip it horizontally, so that her left side becomes her right, it looks all wrong. So looking at a portrait of oneself looks all wrong because it isn't what we see in the mirror everyday. And everybody's face has a lower side to it. Flip that around and the slight difference is now double accentuated.

That's the end of the lesson for today! :)
