Marilynne that blackbird is a little close for that size of lens - did you (or that photographer) have to step back to get that bird shot or can a lens that size actually take a picture that close?
As I was leaving the Arb, I met a camera group from the nearby Catholic girls school. They were all shooting new Canons -- the company had done them a deal ala Apple. I didn't hold it against them and made a little map of the birds I had spotted.

Marilynne for some reason I thought the blackbird was actually a picture taken by the photographer in the photograph - looking at the EXIF data it is clear now, you took both pictures from some distance away.
Sometimes jumping to conclusions is the only mental exercise I get.
Looks like a friend of ours Mike, but he wouldn't be strong enough to hold that lens.
