No, the green wedge is what suggests the subject in this pic , nature , a park perhaps , trees, etc ,, without it , the pic has no subject.
You like stong color and should just expect other strong color likers , to like what you are doing in that first version. While the advice could be sound, to a degree, its just going uphill , to follow advice which goes against ones own taste.. Imo
