I think there is more there than you have shown (if I may be so bold)

And remember that we are at the mercy of the air between us and it -- things can look so clear and bright and be so murky in reality.

Just went out into my backyard to try out my new 300mm lens on the moon, took lots of shots at all sorts of settings, came inside to have a look and got quite a surprise on one shot in particular !!!
Here's a "normal" one...

and here's the one that shocked me... I heard the plane but didn't even think about it...
just shows - "right place - right time" - pity the picture isn't very good...
but "hey - I got it"....:)

As Maxwell Smart would have said "Missed it by that much" ... oh well it gives me a reason to get out there and try again...
and to be honest as I said in the original post - I heard the plane - they fly over our house all day - and didn't even give it another thought.
