Actually not. At least through the AIS versions. I haven't kept up with anything more current that that. They were all referred to as Micro-Nikkors. It is actually an incorrect term as "micro" is usually used to denote magnifications 5x or greater, but I guess Nikon had to be different than anyone else.

Nikon does say micro, which is different, but they are about the only correct usage. Photomacrophotography means at least 1:1 magnification. Micro means up to 1:1. Nikons lenses do not exceed 1:1, so since they are not macro, they have always called them micro lenses. All the others no longer care. Microscopy has another different meaning, microscopes, optical and electron.

See Macro photography - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia : "a macro lens is classically a lens capable of reproduction ratios greater than 1:1, although it often refers to any lens with a large reproduction ratio, despite rarely exceeding 1:1."

Here is a learned description: Special Lenses For Nikon 'F' Mount (first paragraph)

The serious guys are in two forums at www.photomacrography.net and sister site www.amateurmicography.net . They make the distinction.

The words micro and macro are widely and vaguely used in many fields, like even economics, and the meanings have become very blurred. meaning is about lost. Micro just means small, and Macro means large. In photography however, they still have a defined meaning (Smaller than lifesize, and Larger than lifesize), even if usually used wrong. Won't see it correctly used many places outside Nikon descriptions, but we even see that in mixed mode some now, like here: http://www.nikon.com/news/2006/0221_04.htm :)

A tiny spider discovered the newly painted drawer wasn't a great place to hang out. I unstuck his leg and he floated off without so much as a thank you.

I posted this on the Critique forum a couple of weeks ago with very little feedback (thank you mikew). So here is my little jig-dancing zebra spider.
