I guess this is macro. I used a macro reverse mount and my 55-200mm VR lens.

I coupled my Dad's old Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 Macro ( circa early 1970s) converted to Ai with M2 Tube to my D5100 and took this shot of a pencil eraser just for the fun of it. Neat to be able to use this 40 year old lens. I had to use all manual settings of course, but with a small bit of experimentation, it doesn't take long to find the right settings. This was shot at f32 for about a second under bright light.

This is one of my macro shots from earlier this year, it's done using an old AF 28-70 Nikkor with a 50mm f1.8 reversed on the front of it. The shot was taken at 1/60 f29 ISO 320 with homemade ring flash.

Thought I would add a few more from earlier in the year. I spent about a week doing nothing but photographing hoverflies as my garden was full of them. These are some of the results

My first macro shot. It is an Argiope argentata.
The wind was very strong and its web kept moving all the time. Its was hard to focus, but I think it is good for my first one.

Not bad for a first attempt. Spiders can be a nightmare when there is even a breath of wind. I would suggest that you take lots of photos without trying to refocus. You may then have enough parts in focus to do a focus stack. I've often tried to take one or two shots only to find them totally blurred.
What lens are you using and did you crop this shot at all?

I see.. Thank you for the tip. I'm using the Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR and yes, it was cropped.
