Setting eggs

The first spider had been hiding for days but today he sat on top the flower and posed. The second one sat enticingly in his web and I got one shot before he scuttled off to hide and he can just be seen in photo 3. Not easy to see it against the fence. The dangling leg gave away the hiding place.

Here is the same spider from a slightly different angle and now the dangling leg has gone.

After a bit of gardening I found this hanging from my hair. I have no idea what it is so I took a photo anyway. its about 8mm long.

Looks like a decent size meal for a little spider.

First shot from my new D5300 although I have just discovered that it's raw files don't play nice with Aperture 1 so I finally have a reason to migrate to Lightroom which has been installed on my Mac for a couple of weeks.

If you want to attract insects rotting fruit on the ground has a magnet like effect on them.

Yeah, there's a pear tree near by that is dropping like crazy and attracts plenty an insect. It's a bit messy to walk below since my boots have a magnet effect on the rotting fruit too.

This one I lucked out with it being good enough in focus while on the move. I usually shoot bursts of 3-5 when using a higher shutter speed since bees don't really bother about keeping still. Quite often it is not the first but the second or third that is the better of the series.

It's the luck of having its "tongue" included that made a lot of difference.

That's a nice photo. It directly shows the difference between a dedicated macro and improvised macro. It makes me jealous.
