Handheld macro shots of dragonfly. Most of the shots fill the frame. Shot from about 1 foot away, the dragon fly was very obliging.
105mm F2.8 AIS, F/44, SB800 at 1/2 power. 1:1

My 105mm f2.8 AIS lens developed an extremely tight focusing action, hence I was always shooting it at the maximum magnification end 1:0.88. After using it for a year, yesterday I found that with some effort I could move the focusing ring, so I set it to the other end - 1:2. Here a few shots at 1:0.88. As it is tedious to use focusing ring for focus, I just set it at desired magnification, and move back and front to get sharp focus. F/44 and SB800 help a lot to get the DOF.

Miniature pumpkin vine in our park. Images at 1:0.88. 105mm F2.8 AIS, F/44, SB800 full power. With D3300 every thing is manual - focus, exposure, flash
