Within the past month, I decided to photograph a local lake but wanted to use a slow shutter speed to smooth out the water. In the back of the car, I carry an old and cheap Velbon. The problem is when I used it, it couldn't quite handle the weight of my gear. So I've been looking for an inexpensive tripod to keep in the car.

I asked one of our forum members who suggested this one. There is an extra $10 off if you click on the coupon (that would take the price down to $119.99 for a carbon fiber tripod). If you are considering a MeFoto Roadtrip or something similar, you might want to consider this one especially since it is carbon fiber. Here is an online review of some top travel tripods. This one is at the top of their list.

The tripod suggested to me which is also the one in the article above: https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Mon...&qid=1540638675&sr=8-5&tag=mh0b-20&ref=sr_1_5

I wanted something a little taller so I opted for the 65" version. Wow, I am really impressed. For $134.99, it is a carbon fiber tripod with ball head and carrying case. The panning is very stiff which is my only gripe--and I'm hoping it will ease up with some use.

The taller one that I bought: https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Mon...1540638675&sr=8-5&tag=mh0b-20&ref=sr_1_5&th=1

Sent from my vivo v9

I love my D7200 and also picked up a preowned Nikon grip for it. The lens sounds great although I've never tried it. An f/2.8 zoom is always an excellent choice. :) Is this yours...or hers?

Still at it with kitchen remodel. And was hating myself for having my kid bring over his portable table saw every time I needed something cut that I couldn't do with my miter saw, circular saw, or jig saw. So, yesterday while checking my e-mails I saw that Lowes had a decent unit at 40% off. With my vet discount I couldn't say no.

No picture, just a used Kenko auto extension tube so I can get close with regular lenses. Gotta' get those bug shots in the summer! :)

My new purchases have been anything BUT camera related. Hired a couple guys with a deforster head on their skid-steer to clear out scrub trees and brush around the house. Ceders and grapevine grow like weeds. There gone. A couple dead trees. Took them a couple days.
