If anyone is interested, B&H has the Vello Wireless Shutterboss Advanced Intervalometer on sale today only for $39.95. It works with the more recent iOS devices. There are 3 different Nikon options from which to choose: Nikon, Nikon/Sony/Minolta, and Nikon/Panasonic/Leica/Olympus.

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod..._rcb_tn_bluetooth_shutterboss_remote_for.html

The video they include shows how their intervalometers work no matter whether it's a wired or wireless version.

A weekend with Lindsay Adler on creative lighting and post processing!

Okay, there were another ~120 people there too since the event was put on by my local Dallas PPA guild, but a great event all the same. I was hoping for a little more emphasis on posing subjects, but got more than enough out of the other topics to keep me busy for awhile.

Just arrived Tamron 70-200 2.8 g2 , got a couple of shots before the light went , well impressed , maybe a tiny bit of front focus but too early to be definite . Question , it's one heavy lump , what do you guys recommend for carrying around , also it has an Arca fit tripod foot I suppose this means a new tripod ? Don't get me wrong I knew all this beforehand just good to get advice from seasoned users cheers guys

You don't necessarily need a new tripod but possibly a different head. I think it might have been Mark F who mentioned a clamp that works with both Arca Swiss and Manfrotto QR plates. To use this clamp, you'd have to find a head that allows a clamp to be changed.

I'm surprised with the tripod foot. My Nikon has a foot that allows me to attach my own plate. I guess Tamron is eliminating the plate from falling off accidentally.

so decided to take my WASP Action cam out on the kayak
Rigged up the clamp and off I went.
But had to be able to reach the shutter button so brought it closer (kayak has this rail thing for attachments)
Big BUT - while I could reach it to activate the shutter when I paddled I wacked the camera with the paddle and blub blub blub down it went into the lake.
I thought the waterproof plastic case it was in would float - nope. It was a goner.

While I liked my WASP cam and it was Christmas gift (from about 2010) from my dear wife - I found on line that I could replace it for under $75 with a newer model.

But why replace it with similar one that would require touching the unit to activate the shutter? When I can upgrade to the latest and greatest in action cams (at least according to some)

Then I learned that the GoPro 6 has voice activation - oh now I 'needed' to rush out to Best Buy and get me one of these new fancy gizmos.

Which is what I did. Today's special - a free "chesty" camera mount strap and free second battery. Also bought a real floaty thingy, not losing this one.
A few sheckles more than $75.

Both these images taken with my other waterproof camera, a Nikon Coolpix AW110

I did consider the Nikon action cam - not going there.
And considered upgrading this older AW110 to the 300 but didn't think the improvements over the AW110 are not worth the $500+ cost. (which was about cost of the GoPro6) ..

Kodak Bullet 1935 pat-0005-DSC_9529.jpg

Picked this novelty up at our local antique shoppe.
Rather unusual. Googled it up and found that this 1930's Kodak Bullet Camera was produced from 1935-42.
It was a designers camera picking up on the Art Deco rage of the 30's.
Looks at bit like the front end of the Bullet Steam Train of that same era.
Shutter still operates.

One odd point, "Made in Canada" according to the sticker inside the back cover - but "Made in USA" is stamped into the back side of the body,
Mine came with a case but no box. In google searches the images of boxes I've found say Made in Canada. whatever

Picked up a used Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro lens for $260 (basically $200 US dollars.) Based on all the reviews, I think I got this for an amazing price and it should be a good upgrade from my Nikon 40mm macro.

I would not call it an "upgrade" as both are good macro's - just different and I would keep both. I have the Nikon 60mm and 105mm and enjoy have the options.

Non-Photography will hinder some photography purchases for a while, but it was something we needed to do. Our old deck was falling down and we needed the ramp. This one is bigger as well. Waiting on the screen next week. A little cleanup and we will be set.

Gearing up to do our kitchen/dining room remodel. So I wanted to get a decent brad nailer for all the trim work I'll be doing. My old Black and Decker one is still kicking. But the ramp up time on it would drive me nuts on a job like this.

Several months ago, the lady who asked me to take Tball photos of her son asked if I would take her family photos. I declined since my only real flash experience is with OCF while using a flash bracket (corded). Even though I have triggers, multiple flash units, and light stands, flash simply isn't my strength. But her request has been gnawing at me ever since so I began searching for flash modifiers.

After tons of online research, I settled on the MagMod system. Right now I don't have the time to try it out, but as soon as I finish my current church project, I plan to see just what these can do. One thing I really like is MagMod has numerous videos explaining how to use them.

Getting back into Ham radio and bought a new HF rig. Icom IC-7300. Now to start an antenna farm.

My Dad loved HAM radio. He went from CB in the 70s-80s to HAM and had records and confirmations from all over the world that he had talked too. When Mom sold the house his last tower was still standing.. :). He would bring his hand held out to the house, because we were so high up with such a clear view, and talk to folks from our house. His favorite hobby.

I just bought the same kit Cindy. I have been working with flash some and got looking at MagMod after talking to a friend that shoots cars. I have been watching the videos too. They are very interesting. THe ones on the gels pushed me to this particular kit.

I know this saw is over kill for the back splash I'm doing. But I'm going to be doing the bathroom in 12" tiles in a year or two. So I went with a Kobalt 10" wet saw.
