Saw that the AF-S 50mm 1.8 had a price reduction for 177.00
Plus got a MeFOTO58mm Wild Blue Yonder Circular Polarizer Filter. Anyone use one of these? some good reviews and they look pretty good too!

Last year I mentioned getting a Nikon 28-70mm f/2.8 lens in EXCELLENT PLUS condition from Keh.com but returned it. There was an intermittent problem with the aperture blades not stopping down all the way causing some images to be 1 stop overexposed. The cost was pretty high due to the supposed excellent plus condition of the lens, but after a great deal of thought, I decided to go with something less expensive as a precaution.

So I chose a Nikon 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-D lens also from Keh.com. This lens was also listed in excellent plus condition but wasn't nearly as expensive as the first lens. Well, when zooming, the lens would catch at 35mm no matter which direction I zoomed. I could zoom beyond that point, but there was a definite hiccup at 35mm. I called and spoke with one of their reps. He said that issue isn't acceptable for the grade of excellent plus (90-96% of original) and apologized. They had a couple other copies of this lens so I asked if I chose another, could someone check it first.

He said the place where the lenses are kept is separate from their phone center so that wouldn't be possible. Keh received my return and once again has it listed in excellent plus condition.

So now I chose the same lens through an Amazon seller. Even though this seller doesn't have a lot of ratings, he is at 100%. I'm hoping this copy will be in better shape than the one from Keh.

I am disappointed in Keh. I've heard great things about their gear. Even bargain items have been mentioned arriving with what customers think are higher ratings, but unfortunately that hasn't been the case for me when it comes to gear. I HAVE ordered used accessories from them without a hitch though.

This is a ridiculously great sale price on the Canon Pixma PRO-100 once all the rebates are applied--$59.99 after rebates. Please note there is a mail-in rebate so out-of-pocket cost is higher initially. Looks like the instant saving of $50 ends June 11th, but it seems like the mail-in-rebate might be offered until the end of the month.

Too bad they don't have rebates on the ink for it. Ha!!

I've been thinking about getting one of these for a while, while my P7100 is a great little camera, it does have it's limitations, this should fit the bill for a good little travel camera, first camera I've owned with an EVF, it's not mint, but it's in pretty good condition with just a few small marks on it, looking forward to giving it a try out on the weekend

The Nikon V1 is a fun little camera. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
I'm off to Majorca in just over 3 weeks, I'll be using my D7000 and Sigma 10-20 f3.5 for a lot of my photography, plus my 18-70 Nikkor, but I'll be using the V1 while walking around the town's, much easier on the neck, it's great that it uses the same battery as the D7000, which means I only have to take one charger with me now.

My new 85mm 1.8 (first prime in my possession) arrived today.

Enjoy the lens, Walt. It looks like it might now be your fastest lens. Keep in mind your depth of field is shallower when you are shooting wide open or nearly wide open AND when you are very close to your subject. So sometimes it's still good to shoot at f/4 or f/5.6 depending upon the subject and the distance between you and your subject. It will definitely be good in low light situations! And the bokeh from this lens is terrific!

Last week I ordered a B+W 62mm UV filter from B&H, but when I went to put it on the lens, it didn't fit. The box was labeled correctly yet the actual filter was 67mm. So I called B&H and have never been disappointed with their customer service. They sent a replacement and told me to keep the wrong sized one. Thing is I prefer a particular Hoya UV filter that is available in 67mm and won't be using this B+W 67mm. Is there someone in CONUS who would like it? Just keep in mind that the box is labeled 62mm but the UV filter is 67mm. I'll pay it forward and cover shipping myself. ;)

It's this one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/11969-REG/B_W_65070127_62mm_Ultraviolet_UV_Filter.html

I wonder how much difference is between this tripod and the mefoto roadtrip. They look the same and am surprised manfrotto is doing a arca swiss mount.
I've never had much luck with any camera doing video with autofocus. I have seen people use lenses that were designed for video that had focus points for manual focus which work out well..albeit expensive.

I've not been spending a whole lot of money on photography lately but I have been wanting to upgrade my portable studio kit. I finally found a backdrop frame that's big enough to suit me (at 15' wide and 13' high at maximum), as well as sturdy enough (no bowing allowed), portable and doesn't induce sticker-shock. While this one is not "Professional Grade" it's definitely better than most frames I've run across that I can both carry and afford. If you're in the market this is the Ravelli ABSL Photo Video Backdrop Stand kit and will set you back $100.

.....
And to go with it I wanted some beefier, more professional looking light-stands. Wimpy light-stands suck (ask me how I know!) and I got tired up putting up with the ones I had. If you're in the market for light stands this is the Neweer 2 Piece Light Stand Kit and it will cost you $70. These stands extend to nine-and-a-half feet and are made of stainless steel. They push the limit of "portable" for some people but I'm find with them.

I looked at the Mefoto. There was something about the Manfrotto that I liked better (exactly what, I forget), and plus it was a little cheaper. So I bought it.

The postman just delivered a Nikon 70-300 AF-P VR lens. Bought it on fleaBay for $130. I'll use with my Nikon V2 & FT-1 for long lens work. 300mm = 810mm on a Nikon 1 camera.

I've watched a few Scott Kelby videos where he uses a Platypod Ultra paired with an Oben ball head and finally decided to get one. I can think of several places where I can use this for architecture. Although I'm not an Arca Swiss fan, I know the head can't be too tall or it will make the mount tippy--so decided to stick with the one he uses. And I do like Oben products. Since my Oben rail has an arca swiss plate, this should work fine.

My pastor is retiring, and I am working on putting together a book of the church's history while she served (42 years which is rare in today's churches). I am planning on using this set up in our Sanctuary. :) And I can hear Princeton University's architecture calling....;) Definitely have some uses for this. :encouragement:
