So long Yongnuo, hello Godox!

This Godox V860II will pair up with my Godox AD200 and round out my basic, two-strobe, mobile lighting kit. I will NOT missing lugging around all those AA batteries.

I have a pair of those - my go to lights, either as a pair or just one. Work great off camera too.
Last forever - well a really really long time on a charge) Still always best to have a spare battery - gotta get me one or two of them, ... next time they are on sale.
Also have the Godox 360 the bigger brother to these ones, and a 200 too. (and the little brother light too because I can't help myself).
But of the lot I go with this one first.

I've been thinking about getting a spare battery as well. The Neewer Pro VB-20 is on my short-list considering they're $20 a pop. A V850 may be on the list as well since TTL is something I rarely use. The TCM function on the Godox XPro controller is pure, unadulterated awesome though.

After reading up on flashes here I decided to get a Godox V860II and the Xpro trigger. When funds allow I'd like to add an AD200. I also picked up an inexpensive two stand/umbrella kit to start with. Now we've got a lot to learn.

Without taking anything away from my Yongnuo setup, I wish I'd gone the Godox route right from the start, like you have. My experience with the V860 is limited, but so far it's been totally sweet. And the XPro is flat-out awesome.

If you haven't found it already, check out the strobist.com website:

Lighting 101 is an amazing starting point but things reeeeeeally get good with Lighting 102 and Lighting 103 .

Your experience along with others helped me to decide. I've been reading on the Strobist website, a lot of good info there.

So, I didn't purchase one of these, but has anyone here ever heard of someone paying $1999 for one?

With thisn advertised list price, I sense something is a bit fishy here!

I looked it up on Ebay. Scroll down to where it states Item Specifics. It is disclosed to be an import (grey market) that comes with a 1 year warranty through the seller. It also lists 30-day labor warranty. I don't think Nikon will service grey market items.

Warranty:Import Model , 1yr USA warranty by seller
Seller Warranty:1yr Parts , 30 day Labor warranty by seller

That, too. What I was mainly drawn to was the declaration of the list price. As far as I know, that lens has never had a list price of $1999.99. They are trying to make it appear that they offer an even better deal through deceptive advertising.

Ah, now I understand your question. Can't say as I ever remember it costing almost 2 grand.

I typically buy from Strobepro in Calgary - their cost per battery is $49 (CDN) - checked on line at Amazon.CA for the Newer Pro VB-20 and get this "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock. Specialized battery for Neewer TT850 TT860, Godox V850 V860 flash speedlite . . . " Dang

Will put it on my Amazon wish list and get notified when (and if) it comes back in stock.

First handled one at the 2000 photo show, but at over £2,500 it would have been an expensive toy, especially as the magazines I was working for at the time still wanted transparency films, after 18 years, I finally picked one up for £70, can't wait to get out and give it a try, luckily I've still got my Nikon 28-105D that works perfectly with this camera.

A couple weeks ago I shot some Tball and took my Manfrotto 680B monopod with a Manfrotto 234RC monopod tilt head. The combo is great, but because I am still dealing with trigger thumb (and trigger finger of my middle finger just started up today), I decided to look for something with twist locks. Twist locks are much easier for me to operate than flip locks.

So I came across the Sirui P-224C Carbon Fiber monopod--it just arrived a short time ago. It's taller than my Manfrotto monopod and made out of carbon fiber so it's slightly lighter in weight. The only thing I'm not so fond of is how the strap is fastened onto the leg. The piece of metal that holds the strap rotates 360 degrees so the monopod can twist. The thing that connects the strap on the Manfrotto is secured to the leg. Not a biggie. I might be able to find a washer to insert underneath in hopes of not allowing it to swivel freely. Other than that, it's a great monopod. This one also has a retractable spike in the bottom that my Manfrotto lacks. The Sirui also has an Allen Wrench screw to secure the monopod head. The Manfrotto doesn't offer that feature.

I just went back to B&H to get the link and see the monopod is now discontinued! Maybe I got the last one, but at $89.99, it's a terrific carbon fiber monopod for the price. Newer monopods tend to be shorter when closed to be allowable as carry-on for flights. Since I don't fly, that isn't an issue for me.

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1064378-REG/sirui_bsrp224c_p_224c_carbon_fiber_monopod.html

I ordered a different monopod tilt head which hasn't yet arrived. B&H doesn't carry them in stock so there is a wait before it ships. The head I ordered is one I've asked about in the past. Supposedly the plate is interchangeable with Manfrotto's quick release plate...and I definitely want to stick with having the same plates. In the past I tried Arca Swiss, but it isn't for me. The advantage of this Studio Assets tilt head is the weight capacity is at least twice the capacity of the Manfrotto monopod head. I had to search online to find its weight limit (12 pounds) since the info isn't available on B&H's site--found the info on the manufacturer's site. After it arrives, I will comment whether or not this head is as good, better, or worse than the Monopod tilt head.

A year or so ago, I bought a new old stock Gitzo aluminum monopod, but it cost more than this carbon fiber monopod. I figured since I will be around kids, I'd rather have something that I won't be so choice of. I don't think Gitzo makes aluminum monopods anymore.

What have I done? Have so much free time I can learn a new photo processing program. Not. But here we go with the new ON1 2018 version.

https://www.on1.com/

Anyone here use this software?

I own it and use it at times. I like it, but have to admit that I am still learning it. I fall back on PS Elements only because I am used to it. ON1 Raw 2018 has many great features, most of which I haven’t tried. Ha! Tethered shooting is one. I will say that the support staff are good and respond quickly for troubleshooting and bug fixes.
I feel it is coming along with features that will compete with Adobe products.
