Well it isn't a Nikon . . .

Bought my grand daughter a V-Tech Zoom camera for her upcoming trip to see her other grandmother who live on the other side of the country (Newfoundland from Alberta)
Box says it is suitable for three year olds - we will see how that works out. She has been asking for one - she did want the blue one but they only have pink ones in stock.

Papa had to take a test picture to see how good this 2mb camera is ... here's my test shot of another present we gave the grandkids this week, the water toy is a big hit - hopefully the camera will be too.

Due to repairs needed costing too much for me to afford, I traded my truck in on a 2003 Audi TT 1.8 liter turbo roadster. :)

Looks like a classic... Circa??

The copyright in the owner's manual is 1961. It is also known as "The Rocketeer". I believe the 500 series was the last of the all metal machines Singer made, meaning the innards are metal. There is some plastic on the front and on top.
This one is in perfect working condition.

You can tell, just from that photo, it's a "two-person lift" sort of machine... Love the name!!

Edit: Waaaait a minute... Whar bobbin winder? Whar??

(Apologies for being idly curious...)

Good eye.
No apologies needed. Glad you like the machine.
It isn't too bad to move. I got it out of the trunk while still in the cabinet by myself, but still, it is a well made machine.
The spool pins are on the top and sort of pop-up when you lift the top, and you can see the winder on the right. Nifty. It also has a place for cams (err, uhhh, 'fashion disks') on top as well.

The little side-car looking piece on the front that says, "Singer" is where the light is housed. Interestingly, the feed dogs don't drop, but instead, the 'throat plate' lifts up for free style sewing.

Just placed an order for a MINT used black X100T to replace my X100. Looking forward to the updates, especially WiFi - great to share pics with the kids on the SP-2 printer :)

Sure thing. :) I am happy to talk about my new, cool-daddy machine. It is so sixties. The real name of the machine is "Slant-O-Matic 500a", but I kinda like "The Rocketeer" nickname it has been given.

Just what I've been looking for: a cold-shoe with a standard 1/4" x 20TPI screw. These will be used to attach flash units to a couple cheap tripod & ball-head combos I have laying around that aren't being used. I plan to attach a cheap QD plate to the bottom screw and epoxying all the threads so I can keep everything assembled as a single unit.

Cold Shoe - Screw.jpg

Finally! Flashes on tripods/ball-heads (because I pretty much detest typical light stands).
.....

Turns out these things are crap and now, my beautiful plans are ruined... Back to the drawing board!

*shakes fist*

I'm just getting back into photography after a 12 year break. So everything in my signature line is brand new in the last 6 weeks, except the AF 28-105D. We've had very bad smokey air for the last 4 weeks in the Seattle area from forest fires here in Washington State as well as smoke coming down from British Columbia's fires. So I haven't had a chance to get out with the new gear and take any photos. I started photography in 1974 with a Vivitar 35mm SLR. Today's gear is light years ahead of the film gear that I used for over 20 years. Along with the gear in my sig line, I've bought a couple of new tripods, camera cases, all the do dads that come with photography. Been having a blast with it all.

My wife had Parkinson's Disease for 28 years. But 15 years ago it got really bad really fast. So for 10 years I was her 24/7 caregiver. I took care of her and worked a full time job. Had an apartment attached to the office I worked in. She passed away 5 years ago so now my time is mine again. I also do amateur astronomy and target shooting, hence my name "gunfighter48". I'm glad to be getting back into photography. Now I just need a chance to get out and take some pictures!! The fire smoke has cleared out in the last few days so hopefully I'll get out during the week and take some shots!
