I got to spend a little (very little, but still) time with the medium format Fuji. I liked what I saw and was hoping to take it out for a walk, but it wasn't one of the loaners that fujifilm had at the conference for loan.

Wow. I did not know you were considering a D500. Congratulations Mike!

Thanks if i had got my replacement Panasonic 100-400 by now i would not have done it,i was only intending to buy back in on a low level but after 5 weeks of waiting i saw my ar$e this morning and decided its all or nothing.
I do have a post on here somewhere saying i thought the D500 and Sigma 100-400 would be something i could carry ok,just hope i was right.

new mini strobeproDSC_1526 -1.jpg

added a 'mini' flash to my flash collection.
The X35 is the StrobePro Canadian version of Godox TT350.
Larger and more capable than the SB400 it offers full directional control, can be master or slave, does HSS, all in smaller body.
And at $120 CDN I thought it a bargain. Will have to let you know how well it works out.

Grabbed a new ballhead and extra battery while I was there.
Their EN-EL15's do work in the D500 BTW unlike some third party ones.

This is the first I've heard of Strobepro? Are they relatively new?

Update to my XQD purchase post

Tried it out - works fine. Really didn't notice the difference between a good SD card and this super fast card - but I didn't measure it. Only openned 484 RAW shots so maybe not a fair test and no stopwatch was used. But it works fine, and fast.

Now I have yet another gizmo plugged into my PC.

You can see the size of this new card, thicker and larger than an SD - and maybe more durable? I hope so, at $115 with tax and shipping for the card and reader it is a bit more costly than an SD by double the price if not more by capacity - SD's don't compare with speed. The reader is also twice the size of my SD card reader (that blue and black one reads SD and Micro-SD - it's a Kingston model). Both plugged to USB-3 ports.

Oh the memories - or rather memory devices.

I have found that the XQD cards do not load onto my iMac any faster than the SD cards. This might have to do with the speed that Lightroom is importing them more than the card, though. Anyway, soon we will only be able to buy Sony XQD cards sincw Lexar is getting our of the card business. I hope prices don't get to crazy as a result.

After playing with the Sigma 10-20 F3.5 and being totally unimpressed with the lack of focus that it gave ! I took it back to jessops and picked up a hot off the production line Nikon 10-20 4.5-5.6, so far it looks awesome, test shots have given me some good results, just need to put it into use now !!

Not sure exactly how long they have been in business, do not see a date incorporated on their website. I've done business with them over the past few years (three at least). They sell Godox and claim to be the authorized Godox dealer with rebranding rights for Canada under the Strobe Pro name. I find this whole business of each retailer rebranding the same lights as just odd but it is how this co. operates. Adorama calls them Flashpoint, there are Cheetalights and Bolts, etc. They do carry a few other items but most of their stock is godox rebranding. They are lighting specialist with no cameras or lenses for sale.

They have one shop, in CalgaryAlberta.

Interesting - I was very close to going for the Siggy when I bought the Tokina 11-20 which had many very positive reviews. Initially I was not sure I'd keep it but have come to love it. The new Nikon had not been released when I bought mine.

Upgraded my camera plate for a Kirk specific to the D610. And (not pictured) added a long Wimberley plate to the bottom of the foot for the 200-500.

Been wanting a nice AF fisheye for a while. Have two mf Lensbaby fisheyes and they are fun, but fully manual. One is an 12mm optic that can tilt in the Composer Pro, the other is the the F5.6 which at least does not take the disk f stop thing-a-ma-jigs. But a nice 'regular' AF that comunicates with the camera for exposure control etc. was on my wish list. Today the Camera Store had this Siggy on sale for $660 which is the least expensive Fishy lens I've seen - and from what I had read is a good lens, for APC cameras. I have three of those so it would work for me. It does work on FX but it is designed for APC. I'll put up a posting about my experiences with this lens soon.

Sigma calls it -

EVERYTHING, BUT ORDINARY"

Cropped and processed - a bit - lots of fun

I dont know if it was something I was doing but the only shots I had in focus were the ones at home, with a model I couldnt get her in focus even at F8 !

I know there have been compatibility issues with the Sigma's and the D500 however I didnt think that the 10-20 was one of them, I had to wait for the Nikon to be shipped to the store to pick up :) Yesterday was the first day it hit stores !

Well, I got a new lens in the mail today. A dear friend sold it to me this week. I am very thankful for this friend and his desire to give me a good deal. on this lens. I took a couple test shots on my D700 of the court house I posted on my 52 project. I do love this lens.
