It is the Manfrotto 680B Monopod. It has a Load Capacity of 22.00 lb

I got it slightly used from a friend for a bargain price.

That's the same one I have (wow, surprised to see it's already been discontinued). The Manfrotto monopod flip head only has a load capacity of 4.4 pounds so putting a Gimbal on it should allow more weight to be used. How functional is it with the Gimbal though?

I've been using the MeFoto Roadtrip as my travel tripod for a little over two years now. No problems with big kit like a D610 with grip and Tamron 160-600 at an outdoor event. The smaller MeFotos have less weight capacity, but the carbon fiber Roadtrip has been a good travel setup for me with either big lenses or long exposure night photography.

It's really solid. The lens plus D7100 is just over 3 kg and the tripod is rated to 10kg plus it's carbon fibre so it's pretty strong and light. So far in pleased with it but I haven't been on a field trip yet.

If you want to see a cool Nikon F3 Titanium in a good movie, watch "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". Sean Penn's character uses one with a long lens. The name Nikon is taped over, but that's what it is.

I just got back from the zoo with it. I don't think I will shoot with that long lens again without using the monopod/gimbal combo. IT is so stable

Finally got the replacement screw for my monopod! The D500/200-500mm has a new home! Can't wait for the rain to clear up to give it a thorough test!!

I tried shooting with a gimbal on a monopod recently and really liked it. Problem was I only had a cheep monopod and he connection between it and the gimbal was shaky at best. So yesterday I added a Manfrotto Monopod to the kit. It is heavy duty and a little larger around so it works great with the Gimbal. Went out and played with it a little today. Very stable platform for the D750 and Tamron 150-600

During marching band season, I routinely use a monopod without a head on it for simplicity. I may have to give a gimbal on top of it a try!! Thanks for the idea, Don.
