We'll have to compare notes. I'm pretty pleased with mine. Only drawback so far is that you can't use screw on filters. Congrats!!!

Expectations officially shattered...In keeping with the current Sigma flavor of the thread I'll be testing out a new Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM tomorrow, so nothing but a stock photo until then.
Expectations are high, will post real-world photos in a couple days.
Do you really want to hear about the two 85mm f/1.8G's I had to return a few months ago? Third time's a charm they say.Nikon lens, Nikon lens, Nikon-------
Well, since you put it that way, no. But i am not as enamored of G series lenses as some others seem to be.. Have you ever had a D series 85 mm lens. I would be interested in hearing about that as I have long coveted such a lens.

I'm not a huge fan of Nikon G lenses either, in all honesty, though I do own a couple. Compared to my Sigma f/2.8 50-150 or Tokina f/2.8 11-16mm my G-lenses look and feel like toys. Still, they get the job done and the price is right.Oh yes I would like to hear a about that lens too! Maybe the af-d lens will be a doable lens for me too!
Thanks, Bill... I'm hopeful too. I'm currently in the process of revamping my lens inventory and trying to focus higher quality lenses and fewer of them. Thanks HF ! I sure hope your new lens works out much better for ya buddy! I need a 35mm too but I think the version your getting would be too costly for me. So I'll likely have to buy a G version, since it seems to be the best for cheap. Lol

The Nikon 35mm f/1.8G is a great lens, period. I've owned it, shot with it, still have access to one (when it's not on the girlfriends camera, which is rare) and still love it. The fact it sells for ~$200, NIB, just sweetens the deal.
