Just pull the Tmax 400 to 200 and use hc110 with shorten development time.
I used to shoot triX @200 with either hc110 or D76 straight :)

I've never been so confused.
Over expose the Tmax 400 2 stops (ISO 200), and shoot at that ISO.
When comes to developing, multiple 1.4 to the suggested developing time, and minus that number.I know its confuse and will see negative number, but basically you are cut down the developing time almost in half.
because the film has soak in the developer for less time, you will get less grain. By over expose the film over a stop, you will get more shadow details.
If I go further (if you do print the picture yourself with old school enlarger), go with a #5 and #3 filters (split printing).
Try D76 1:1 first, the developing time should be a little over 6min.
I know this is very confuse, do some studies, but once you master this skill, your prints will be BEAUTIFUL!!

So instead of quelling my "NAS" buying a 200-500mm lens has had the opposite effect as I have ended up going on a bit of a shopping spree this month.

I picked up a Red Snapper RST 283 tripod and a BK-45 Gimbal head (one of the cheap ones on Amazon) and my first impressions of both are good, although I have very little to compare them too. The tripod feels solid, well made and is not too heavy and the gimbal head feels smooth and is easy enough to set the tension so it will hold my camera steady whilst still able to move freely with little effort.

A bonus about the tripod is that the company has a special offer on with a 3 way head thrown in for free. The RSH 24 head they offered was of little use to me and is rated at just 3kg, however it was out of stock so they substituted it with a usually more expensive head RSH 528 rated to carry 6kg, so I can use it with my 200-500 should I want to. It might be ok on my monopod just using the tilt function. The tripod also comes with a very nice bag and comfortable strap.

The extra weight of my new lens has also encouraged me to get a more substantial strap, so I picked up the Joby Utrafit sling strap. Very very happy with this strap thus far.

Finally I needed a way to keep my 200-500 safe when not in use as Nikon are tight and don't see the need to provide their customers with a reasonable case with their £1000+ lens. I opted for a Lowepro 13x32cm lens case and it fits like a glove with the lens hood reversed and tripod collar still on.

So I think that's all I need for a while, but is it all I want? I've saved some money on some of the buys, especially the tripod and I hope that leaves me finances to get a Tokina 11-16mm sometime soon. I'm just hoping I haven't fallen into the trap of buy cheap buy twice. I don't think I have but time will tell.
Thanks for mentioning the Lowpro case. I have been looking for a case to fit the Nikkor 200-500. Ordered it yesterday at a good price. I have been really uncomfortable with that bag.

Nice little spend, thats the same gimble as i have, just a bit confused when you say set the tension,i balance my camera by where the tripod adapter is on the lens and gimble, plus raising and lowering the gear on the side arm.

I was a bit confused by what I was writing too, wasn't really sure how to say what I meant. I will balance it in that way too. I was mostly referring to the knob that allows the lens and camera to tilt up and down, I was concerned it would be difficult to precisely tighten this so the camera could be moved easily but would stay put once you let it go. It all seems to work well but will try it out this evening on some red kites hopefully.

I need the 400 speed for my street photography. I get really excellent results with HC 110 (h) 1:60 right now just experimenting a little bit with TMax developer. Apparently there's many dilutions, 1:4,1:7,1:9,1:19 listed in the master developers chart

I finally dove into DSLR photography and ordered a D5300 with the 18-140mm lens from Cameta Camera.

I've got some work to do to fill out my kit, so I guess I'll be on this thread a lot Oz

Latest purchase for me is NOT Camera related... other than:
1. Will likely hook up a gopro...
2. Room to store my full Nikon kit...

It is a 2012 Model Year .....

Very nice Pat... Very Nice. Never owned a Gold Wing, but had the opportunity to ride several. Lots of my friends had them. I really like the newer models. Nice low Center of Gravity. They handle like a dream with plenty of juice to get you through the twisty roads. But I gotta know what the tank is for...

Did that Goldwing come from Florida? I think I know the previous owner. I also have a matching Cape Fear rally sticker on the windshield of my BMW, but only got to ride in that rally one year.

I'm sure you'll enjoy that ride!
