Hi Pat,I posted my thoughts on this little tripod somewhere around here. It is a solid, very well made tripod. Nice and smooth with positive action. I've had my 7100 with flash mounted on it and I have no concerns with stability at all. It has met my expectations very well.

Steve, thanks!! This has been on my wish list... for portable/tabletop use... this would be a great size for my motorcycle travels but also wanted to be sure it worked "solid" with my 7100.

Thanks for the update, sorry I missed it before!

That will be a grand set up, where do you buy your used product in Canada. I keep an eye on Henry's used inventory and Kerridale on the west coast. A few others have a little bit here and there like McBain's in Red Deer especially.

I buy them on FM forum or on ebay.

Although I've read many a review at Fred Miranda's site I never noticed the buy-sell forum, looked a little more into the FM site - seems like something to follow a little more closely.

And of course I browse the market place at Nikonites (and Nikonians). Never bought from a forum though - will have to give that a go.

Technically its not a purchase, but I signed up for the Adobe CC Photography Plan. I let the clock nearly run out on the trial, held my nose and went for it. Surprisingly, I am not trying wash the bad taste out of my mouth like I thought I would be. I'm still not fond of the idea of subscription software, but I'm liking having Photoshop....and it won't be outdated by time I learn the basics.

I could post a whole laundry list of stuff I bought since April when I started this hobby. Nothing fancy though. Pretty much older used gear. But I guess my latest purchase was this tripod I got last week.

This QZSD Q666. After a week of using, this thing is pretty good for the price. $79 shipped.
This is well built, holds onto my camera like a boss. Decently compact for traveling. And can be used as a monopod.
Most of you probably know this tripod, but I just wanted to add my 2-cents in to confirm that this is a great deal.

Watched a Youtube interview of Don Komarechka https://www.donkom.ca/ where he talks about how he does his snowflake macro's and others - he talked briefly about the Pringle Can flash modifier. So having a urgent need to eat Pringles I had to make one and try it out. Works.

Pulled out my two dedicated macro lenses (Nikkor 60mm & 105mm) and even dusted off a set of magnifying filters I had from years ago. Brand "Image"?? but they were "made in Japan". And tried out my latest "purchase" a repurposed Pringles Can - total cost $1.99 not counting the chips.

I also used a second flash for some of the photos. And no I did not make note of which images had the magnifiers and which ones I used. Not that meticulous.
The 52mm filters only fit onto the 105mm so obviously not used on any image at 60mm.

More going into "post your macros".
