This guy came inside on my shirt sleeve, flew straight into my monitor, and ended up on his back on my desk -- startled the heck out of me

A Rose Chafer. I've come across a few but they are extremely difficult to focus on because of their mirror-like body. Amazing colours. Great shot. :D

Thanks. We call them scarab beetles here and they are in great abundance this year. I've posted a few shots, but you are right, they are tough, being so shiny.

I do apologize for the weird Exif data. I shoot with an extension tube or manual lens when doing macro. Most of my shots are speed 60-180 ISO-100, and f8-16. It all depends on my lighting and shot. By the time I go to the next subject it changes for me. The tube forces me to change settings all the time. if I just use the 105/f4 without the tube I don't change the settings as much.

Broke my heart, but we had to kill off a wild bee hive today -- the returning occupants were even less happy

I went through my 610 and re-did some settings. I went out to shoot macro with the 105/f4 and I noticed my picture was sharper. Not sure what adjustment I did.DSC_4061_edited.jpgDSC_4109_edited.jpg
