The first shot looks a heck of a lot like a pitcher plant.
I am pretty sure that I have never seen the second plant.
UpDate... I think the bottom shot is a Larsen Orchid.

It's one of the Phalaenopsis orchids. The yellow lip being a little unusual. Not sure about the UK but they're being imported into Australia from Asia by the thousands at the moment. Very popular. They're even being sold in supermarkets! I like the light coming through the petals too.
