As a new member, I thought the Flower would be a good place to start, so here's a shot of the stamens of a Poppy. Its likeness to one of Elton Johns wigs is purely coincidental

Favorite Flower Photos

When I moved to Oregon 5 years ago I had never photographed a flower in my life. It didn't take me long to get into doing so since I live in a virtual garden environment. Oregon is covered by commercial plant farmers than include acre upon acre of great flowers. There are specialized flower festivals throughout the growing season. I attend at least three each year. Here are a few of my favorite captures.

Re: Favorite Flower Photos

Beautiful shots Bob!

I'm still relatively new to flower photography but am gaining experience fast. I chuckle at myself for finding so man subjects at the local stores with roll-around stands full of potted flowers. The rest came from their respective festivals. There are always scads of photographers there in the wee hours of the morning. Sunrise light makes a lot of difference.

Re: Favorite Flower Photos

Do you use the 60mm 2.8 much on flowers? I saw the portrait shot in another thread, I hope to pick up that lens in a few months.

I'm on my iPad in a McDonald's right now so I don't have Exif software with me. I certainly have used the 60mm on flowers but most likely I had my favorite 18-200mm aboard. I have replaced the 60mm with the 85mm macro.
