Official State Flower of Texas
Texas designated the bluebonnet as the official state flower in 1901. In 1997, the Texas State Legislature designated Ennis, Texas as the home of the "Official Texas Bluebonnet Trail" and also designated Ennis as the "Official Bluebonnet City of Texas". Each year, from April 1-30, Ennis showcases over 40 miles of mapped driving Bluebonnet Trails sponsored by the Ennis Garden Club.
Since moving to Texas several years ago, I've planned (and failed) to go down to Ennis in April to see the annual display of color. Yesterday, I decided that, since I'm not getting any younger

, I best get off my butt and do it. Here are a few shots from today. The first two were taken using an AF-P DX 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR lens.
