The color under its chin isn't very good :D:D:D

Hope you can take a joke, thats well caught i was watching them yesterday at the lake and thought no way with the 50-500,still have to get my first in flight shot.

Next time I'll try to get the chin right. Especially for you. ;)

I had the 70-200mm but got the best results from 70 to about 105mm. Distance isn't a problem with these and they fly incredible close. I was in the middle of 6-7 of them hunting insects. I just moved with them.

It's their speed and agility that makes it darn hard. The AF can't keep up with them and neither can I while panning. I had plenty a shot with zero bird in them. 200mm simply didn't work for me.

Next time I'll try manual focus. It'll be hard but it'll be faster too without focus track locking on the environment all the time.

A couple more of my first (average) attempts at this bird. I'll have to find the right approach to shoot them during their "hunt". I have to overprocess them now to get something out of it.

Find a nest box there nesting in and camp out get the wind and sun right and presto they come and land same way everytime

Kinda like out Barn Swallows here

They're inside this giant building and have a zillion places they can enter which makes it almost impossible to "camp". This far when they're hunting the bugs low I have some chance to shoot them but they can drive me insane with their flight patterns.

And yea they a a pain in da arse to get in focus seen a guy last year with a monopod glad I wasn't closer or I would have got knocked out monopod flying in all directions :D While he tryed to get one in focus
