I think this is the classic pose and shot of an egret in flight. Wings fully extended, head straight, legs tucked tightly back and straight.

Here is one last shot for the day. Yes it's a little too strong on the contrast, I was shooting in the middle of the day and should have gotten out of the hot Florida sun hours ago. The reddish herron just taking off from the Honeymoon Island/Dunedin Causeway water.
