Im thinking thats a cooler bird - barnacle goose ( I'd like that species myself) - but I dont know if Yall have canada geese ordinarily ,( which would change the perspective.)

You have me guessing now,we do get barnacle geese but not seen any this winter its been all Canada, these landed on the lake but by the time they hit the water my attention was on something else, next time i go possibly tomorrow i will see if the barnacle have turned up.

Been out today practicing my bird in flight techniques.

Nothing very exotic and not as good as the experts on here but at least they are mine :D

Snap I was using the same lens today but with a 1.4 teleconverter attached.

What do you think of it ?

It looks like its a great lens, the screw drive focus is slower though especially if its going a long way,if i had to limit myself to 400mm i would be happy with it but now i would miss the 600mm.

You have had a great start with the BIF shots,a lot better than mine when i started.

Question for the experts at Bird in Flight shots.

I assume you use af-c and probably back button focus when taking BIF shots.

What focus mode works best for you ?

Single point
Dynamic-Area 9 or 21 or 51
3D

Sorry if this as been asked before but did a search and couldn't find any reference.

I'm curious as well. Light was low today and I was shooting ducks but AF-C with Grp selected was too slow to my liking and I missed plenty a shot waiting on the Tam to finally get them.

Think i run against popular thinking, single center point focus as i often track birds past trees ect or within seconds could be trying to pick a small bird out in a bush, also i believe it to be more sensitive. If i was better at PP i would use auto iso but as ime not its iso500 or 800 aperture priority.
