Thanks Mike. Yeh I eventually got the face you were talking about. The first thing I noticed is the mask from the movie Predator in the bottom right corner, complete with dreds. I haven't looked into but I gather you can fold out one side of the shot in LR to add more space like you've done here?

I used photo shop to stitch the flipped cropped piece in panorama fashion, but its when i come to the clean up i struggle, still learning is fun.

Was just going to ask "BIF" (as in "MILF") when I worked out for myself that we are talking Birds in Flight!

Re: Bird in Flight

Well, I should elaborate. The width wasn't cropped but the height was because there was a lot of ugly stuff above it. Fair point though Scott and I'm certainly trying to be more mindful about how I crop. I would say 50% of the time I crop to get rid of crap that would ruin the shot which sometimes means the composition is not quite right.

Remember that the things we use for composition are rules to guide you and are not laws that you must obey.

Re: Bird in Flight

I cannot get the EXIF on this photo. I love the Kestrel. Can you divulge your settings for this and the lens used?

Thanks Mike. Here it is. This was taken with the Nikkor 55-300mm.

  • Model: NIKON D7100
  • ISO: 500
  • Exposure: 1/2000
  • Max Aperture: 5.0
  • Aperture: 5.6
  • Focal Length: 300 mm

I have some other shots of the same kestrel in my daily, posts 2291 and 2292.
