Appreciate the likes folks but I am not, and never will be a bird photographer. So many of you are so skilled that I could never compete and have no desire to own one of those humongus lenses. The only way i could use one would be on a tripod. But my foray into shooting birds makes me appreciate how could so many of you are at what is a difficult endeavor. So I am off to find a flower garden to stalk-----even they flit around a little to much sometime.

Couldn't agree more. Some of these bird shots leave me speechless.........much respect for all you bird folks, sincerely. Just when I think I have a decent shot and I go to post it, I see some of the other shots, and I'm brought back to reality. I will say that this site has folks who are kind enough to realize that we are all at different levels in our photography, and that's cool:)

I am not a birder usually landscapes and sunsets and sunrises. Here I am at a picnic table sitting on the bench and the seagulls start coming. I have a Tamron 70-200 VC is on......and manual mode lucky I did not have manual focus. I set the D500 to D25 focus points I got more hits than with D72 points. It seemed if I was tight I could capture one at D25. I was not expecting them.
