It's pretty dark and red. Didn't help the car was black and stormy cloudy . Those are my excuses :)

I've been wanting to set my D5100 on a tripod for a long time night exposure of my truck, carrying an old handheld flash unit to pop off and selectively wash the truck with light. I tried this with our house decorated at Christmas and it worked very well ...... though I had to sprint to save my camera when the neighbors across the street started backing out of their driveway and over my camera!

That would be cool. The only light source I had/used was a really orangish red street light above me. Part of me likes the red hue though. I dodged the photo some to separate the car from the water. Would be better if it was a little brighter though.

My D5100 is my first digital camera, having almost quit the hobby when Kodak quit manufacturing Kodachrome. I must admit that I've fallen in love with digital because experimentation costs nothing. In the case of time exposures, we can both mess around with different settings and techniques and see instantly what's needed to improve the shot.

What model of car is it that you have? It looks fast.

Its my buddies 2001 (?) Pontiac Firebird. Fairly Stock right now (LS1, so its still pretty quick) but eventually we'll build it up.
