No. We have Squirrel Nutkin, Mrs. Rabbit and Bunnies, Mrs. Flopsy Bunny, Timmy Tiptoes, Hunca Munca, Tabitha Twitchit and Miss Moppet, Jemima Puddle-Duck Made a Feather Nest, and Jemima Puddle-Duck who've you seen a photo of. The oldest are from 1948 and the newest, which I missed before, is from 1983.
gonna drive me nuts. LOL!

I found this Web site, Beswick Beatrix Potter figurines - Old Beswick Backstamps , which has a,, the Beatrix Potter figurines. Some seem to be quite valuable.

Okay, no feline or canine photos, just a hyacinth bulb in water. I saw it yesterday while grocery shopping and could not resist. With my black thumb, I will be very surprised if the poor plant makes it to adulthood.

Wow I've never seen one in water like that. I love Hyacinth they just look like spring and smell soooo nice :)

I bought it at the grocery store last night. They have a nice plant department right opposite the deli counter. Good marketing ploy: waiting for cold cuts, get enticed by pretty green plants that look so healthy.... until they come into my house. :)

Whew!!

At first, I thought I was going to have to call the insurance guy and take out a home insurance rider out on these things! Then I started looking at the backstamps a little more and doing some more research on them. Turns out all of mine were made in the 70's, regardless of the date on the back. That's just the copyright date, not the date of manufacture.

Turns out they're all only worth about $400. Not the thousand or so I thought they were worth when I originally looked at that list.

On the other hand, I'm definitely missing a hundred or so figurines. :sorrow:

Guess I better start hitting the flea markets. Now that I know what backstamps to look for, maybe I can pick up one that's worth four or five hundred bucks for 3 dollars!

Thanks!

Okay, when the weather is yucky, damp, and drizzly, I can rely on any one of my 4 cats for photos. The dog, not as much. :) Yes, as mentioned yesterday, cats can be wonderful opportunities for Project 365. This afternoon, I took my camera into the living room, and just sat there for a few minutes snapping photos while Creature was doing what Creature does best, whatever that is.

It started out with Creature taking a relaxing break from terrorizing the dog.
Ah, Comfy

I think she was getting a little annoyed with me...

A few minutes later, she got up and decided that things were more interesting out the window.

Something caught her attention...
What Was That?

Of course, I had to put in something a little different. Here are a few of my very tough succulents that can survive my neglect and black thumb. I did use the on-board flash as fill-flash. Interesting how it totally whites out the window.

Pat,

Thanks for asking. I don't think I paid much attention to focus on that one. I liked the composition and just took the photo. Funny that you brought that up because that was the only one I did not check in detail about the focus. Normally, once I upload my images to my laptop, after I delete the truly awful, out of focus, or "what was I thinking" photos, I go through and carefully check things like sharpness, point of focus, color balance, exposure, etc. For some reason, I did not do that with this one. I think I was just looking at the overall composition, and thought, "Wow, cool, I like that."

I did remove a little edge blip of some invading object on the left hand side. At least I noticed that part. :)

Again, thanks for bringing that up.

Not offended at all. I never mind constructive criticism, that's one of the reasons I post photos. Others will see what I miss. That's just like proofing your own writing. Thanks.

I'll have to try it again, this time with the middle cactus in focus.

This is for Pat. I thank him for noticing yesterday's photo post that had the focus in the wrong place. That's what happens when you don't check the image thoroughly first. :) Anyway, it made me think about what else I do with the the concept. So here it is...

First, I re-shot the image, then played with the in-camera color sketch. I love playing with that feature. Here goes:

I then looked at another plant on the same shelf (but out of view in the photo), placed it on the cats' window shelf, and photographed it. Again, I used color sketch.

2-24-13 part 2:

Spring has not started yet, and I do not expect it will for a while, so pretty, green and other colored stuff is still at least a month away. So, I went on a short photo excursion looking for interesting texture. Frozen and partially frozen creeks are great for that.

This first one intrigued me because of the reflection of the trees and the creek bank on the water.

When I saw this, I thought of a skeletal hand or foot. I think I have been watching too many episodes of BBC's "Waking the Dead" lately. :)
Hand or Foot?

This is just a texture photo. The tan slimy stuff looks pretty icky, but I think it is just sediment or silt that has thawed and risen to the top of the water's surface. I just liked the look of the texture.
Slime....
