1-9-13: The 30+ year-old succulent that keeps on giving... photographically, that is.

Manual focus - I never use autofocus when taking close-up shots so it does not bother me that the D3000 cannot autofocus this lens.
The first macro shots I ever took were with a Leica M3 and using the Visoflex housing. That was an interesting experience. It never dissuaded me from macro photography.

Awesome picture Barbara! This is exactly what my cat looks like every morning when I open my eyes!
There is a tiny cat hair? right smack dab in the middle of the image on the nose that refuses to wipe off of my monitor. Yes, I did.

Everything always has a cat hair or two. Check the mouse balls closely, plus the Bud End from 2 days before.
All my clothes have that heathered, pet hair look. HaHa!

Just to be on the safe side, I did take the opportunistic cat photo. Creature was doing what Creature does best, being a long-haired snotty cat as one of my friends calls her.

Since we are in the middle of a January thaw (AKA January Mud Season), I then decided to go outside and take some photos.
The water pouring out of the gutter spout fascinated me (you know what they say about simple things ).

Then I went to the Rail Trail (a defunct railroad track that was converted into a community walking park). I just thought the tree, with last year's leaves was texturally interesting.

While out for a walk this afternoon with my spousal unit and the dog, I noticed the water pouring down the drainage ditch right near a road. I just thought it was interesting and looks can be deceiving. I don't think the water was more than 8" across.

Nice that you have installed Creature a personal sleeping/bathing and more unit. Is there a drinking unit nearby, like in most Cat rooms?
You have an artist's eyes for this stuff, Barbara. Interesting images.
On a side-note, and you may know this already, however, in my work, I have found about a cup or so of bleach in a gallon of water, put in a pump up garden sprayer, and applied to any mold/algae/etc. growth on the sides of homes or other areas eliminates/kills the stuff if left on for 30 min. to an hour. Do not scrub it with a brush or broom, let it set, and rinse in an hour, with garden hose. Repeat if necessary. Work from the bottom up, so no streaking will occur. This will not harm vinyl siding or paint, or masonry. Test on any bare wood, Cedar, etc. first. Cover any foliage you want to keep with cheap plastic drop cloths. Sorry, couldn't help myself.
Not that there is anything wrong with the patina of mold/algae/etc. on whatever. LOL

Thanks. Keeping algae growth down is my husband's job.
It's also a spot that does not get a lot of direct sunshine any time of the year. Gotta love living in an area of upstate New York with one of the lowest sunshine rates in the country. Yes, Creature is a great subject. She is also a tiny cat, less than 6 pounds, and has our 75 pound lab totally intimidated. It's all about that cattitude.
Spousal unit! LOL Love it......gonna borrow it.
Remember the Coneheads on Saturday Night Live? Spousal unit, along with "parental units" comes from that.
