1-14-13: No opportunistic cat photos... :)

I have an arrangement of silk flowers in my living room, so I thought it may make a nice subject. I have two versions of the photo. One is just the yellow flowers (observe traces of cat fur that I did not notice when I took the photo) and the other where I took the same photo and converted it to a pencil-sketch-like weird line drawing through the camera's menu option called "color outline." Hmmmmm.... You would think it would produce some kind of color outline. Nope, as you can see below. One thing that did surprise me is how that option really picked up on the cat fur I never saw. :)
BTW, I use a D3000, so I do not have as many fancy in-camera options as others.

Okay, it's one of those days again.... Opportunistic cat photo (or part, thereof).

A dreary day in the Northeast U.S. and having a cold, to boot, made me very unimaginative. I do love Alex for her patience and tolerance as I photographed one of her paws...

We had about 2 inches of very wet snow last night. Fortunately, it lasted on the trees until I got home from work this afternoon.

Snowy trees are beautiful! That first one would make a Great Christmas Card...(even with the UFO)... Good shots!

That 18-55 lens is highly under rated, I really like mine...I use it more than any other...

I didn't even notice the UFO in the upper left corner until I uploaded it. That's what happens when one posts things while under the influence of cold medications. :)

As for the lens. I agree with you. I'm not a fan of zoom lens usually, but I have used this lens more often than I would have thought, and have always been happy with the results.

No inner critters. I just thought it was a little different, especially since Creature has really long ear hairs. A friend of ours kids us and says she receives messages from aliens with those ear hairs. :)

With super-gusty winds outside and a wind advisory, also, I decided to see what I had inside to photograph. I came upon this hand-carved, wooden zebra that someone gave me a number of years ago and thought it would make an appropriate subject. At least it's not another cat photo. :)

One of the ways that this project has really helped me, is that it forces me to look at what is around me in a different way. I look at things and think, hmmmm, how can I make a photo out of this object.
