Of course, the day I have my camera with me to photograph the mallards that have been hanging out in the creek I drive over every day to get home, and not a fowl in sight. Sigh.... That made me decide to take a couple of photos in the barn, better known as Gary's Playhouse. So, here are two:

My spousal unit has had this toy blimp for over 20 years that I know of. I think it could use a fill-up. :)

All his tools are that organized. Can we say OCD? :) He's like that with everything except the files on his computer. His computer is an organizational nightmare.

Stopped at the grocery store on my way home from work to get a few things we needed. Saw the bananas and thought they were perfect objects for today's image. So here they are. :)

Took a couple of snow photos this afternoon after I came home. The snow had started about an hour before, very light and fluffy.

I used fill flash on this one. I love how the background just drops away.
Brrr...

I just liked the texture pattern that the snow produced on the back of the glider bench on the porch.

We got less than 7" of snow, luckily, but the snow still gave me a lot of opportunities to play with my new D7000. I did screw up the date when I was setting up the camera and did not realize it until I had uploaded photos to my computer. Some of the dates are 2-11-13. Oh well. :)

Here's a sample:

What kind of nest do you think it is?

I saw this poor tree all droopy with snow and thought of the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree that my husband's cousin sent us.

I took advantage of a relatively warm day (in the high 30s F) and intermittent sunshine. I forgot what sunshine looked like. :)

When I looked up at these trees, they reminded me of the circulatory system.

Back to my favorite creek. This is the portion of the creek that gets all the ice build up because it is shallower than other areas. Also, I liked the reflection on the pooled water in the upper left of the image.

Still enjoying my new toy. :)

Okay, back to the dreary winter weather (in the 40s F and drizzling. Yuck!). I have had this little malachite egg for a number of years. At least it's greenish, more than I can say for what's outside.

Meet Oscar.... I am still playing with my new D7000 and my favorite lens, the AF f/2.8 105mm Micro Nikkor. :) Great combination!!

Still playing with the new camera and favorite lens. The first photo is just a test of colors. I grabbed an assortment of sock yarns in some of my favorite colors.

Now the rest are opportunistic feline photos:

Oh, Really....

Creature is always good for a shot or two.

The Nose Knows

This one is my favorite of the evening. Did a major cropping of the original to get this image. Did you ever want to see a cat's nose and lips that up close and personal?

What Did You Say?

Spooky was getting bored with me.

Looking forward to spring and nicer weather for outdoor photos.

The nose shot cracks me up.
In the original photo, Creature was looking up at me. Her mouth and nose were in focus but her eyes were not. I liked the idea of using the in-focus nose and mouth, and cropped it several ways until I got this version. My non-photography spousal unit (who paints and draws instead) was really amazed at the detail of Creature's nose and fur.

I showed the photo to one of my science classes this morning. A couple of students thought I was just weird. I accepted that as a compliment. :)

Thought about this one while I was in the basement this evening. I'll give you two different perspectives. Let me know if anyone needs a hint.
