Took advantage of Nikon's lens rebate to add the 85 1.8G to my kit. It arrived this afternoon. Here's the first shot, featuring Ginger at her picture window at dusk. D600, f/1.8, ISO 5000, 1/100 sec. Slight NR in LR4.

I knew I wanted one of those. I keep getting outbid on eBay for one.

How much do they sell for these days? I got mine for I think $ 225. And I use it quite a bit. But it wouldn't be the same field of view on a D90 though. If I had been sure to stay with DX, the Sigma 30 1.4 is the one I would have gotten.

I knew it wouldn't be the same on my D90 but still should have awesome image quality. I also favor collecting up FX/AI-s lenses in case I do go full frame one day.

On that note, the 35mm f/2.0 was the one that is desired for sharpness isn't it? I see plenty of the 2.8 versions and they sell no where near what the 2.0 sells for.

I think it even sells for more than the 1.8 as well. The last one I saw on eBay that sold it was well over $200 already.

@Marcel: Sigma 30mm f1.4 suffers from excessive peripheral softness + tends to "hunt" the AF (and covers only an APSC/DX sensor, by the way), if I understood the reviews well. In December I purchased a Nikon 35mm f2.0 (in the local store it costs some 50$ less that Sigma 30mm f1.4), and I can confirm it is PAINFULLY sharp ACROSS the frame even at f/2:applouse: (I'm sorry that I erased all the test photos I had made).
