My remark here is not meant as a critique on this picture, it is just a thought for my own improvement that I wanted to share as food for thought.
I love the subject, which clearly has difficult surroundings and light. Worth revisiting and exploring.
In composition I would have put more of the vault, seems more interesting then the floor.
The main improvement could come from light though, seems to me this would be a good setting to use multi flash set-up to give the picture more depth.

Nice to get someone else's view on a picture.

The wall's were inside some archways, so light was tricky, and had to stand back just a bit to get all the picture in the shot.

As this was in a part of the city where using a DSLR with extra lighting is not really a good idea, if you know what I mean.
(locals would have the teeth out of your mouth if they could get money for them)

Early in the morning with point and shoot camera in my pocket, head down, take pictures, before any of the locals wake up.

This is where the pictures were.

I worked for 2 days in Manchester back in 1998, I was happy to have a local colleague with me to show me around and not end up in the less safe areas. When walking around it became clear to me that some people have issues there which makes them unpredictable.
Sad though, since I do find the site does have potential.

I like the scene and the shade = good subject and light. That makes the picture worth it.

However I have trouble with the composition. I tend to be convinced that even centralised pictures need to adhere to the rule of thirds to work, that means that the subject needs to touch the golden points. Anybody who really likes this composition? (The only rule is break the rules) And why?
