One Card or Two?

I need to get some more memory cards for a forthcoming trip. As per Scott Murray :)

I have been using the 32 GB Sandisk Extreme Pro 95 MB/s Class 10 and will likely stay with the same unless I can be convinced otherwise.

These are a bit expensive in New Zealand (you guys in the USA have no idea how lucky you are) but my flat mate will be going over USA way soon and has offered to bring back for me.
Now the question is am I better off (for whatever reason) getting 2 of the above or should I just get 1 x64 GB which costs less than buying 2?

My gut says get 2 to spread the risk of losing data.

I started with one big 64, but since then have been buying more smaller cards so that I can rotate daily and reduce my risk of loss.

I'd go with 2x 32GB.

Scott will probably come on here and tell me I will need a lot more than 3! Well I guess I need to know that and be prepared as i won't be processing anything until I get back

5 weeks and I have no idea how much time will be spent shooting photos and how much time will be spent shooting dangerous animals just to survive.

Thing is he will be teaching me a whole lot of stuff.

I probably need about 10 cards

10 cards and 5 cameras, just in case the dangerous animals eat your camera(s). :)

For 5 weeks, I would think more smaller cards (< 32GB) may be the answer.

A pair of 36s would be nicer but the cards only come in 32 so get two.

Question: Why not carry a laptop and download your photos onto it each night so they can be checked for content and quality. When my wife and I travel for more than one day we always download the day's shots to my laptop and look through them to see how things are going. lets you know if you have a camera problem before losing another day of shooting.

I don't have or use a laptop Don.
I will be taking my external storage and hopefully we can store some on there as we go along as I think Scott is taking a laptop with him.

So much this... Would it be possible to occasionally backup your cards to a netbook, laptop or some kind of online "Cloud" storage?

Roughly 500 14-bits from the D600.

That's good to know
I should imagine I won't take more than 100 a day on average so 1 card per week should cover it. Will have to check with Scott.
Thanks everyone for the input.
I think I am going to go for more cards with less storage on each i.e. 16GB
