Thank you for allowing my membership, i was hoping you could help with advice i may need. I'm about to attempt to renovate my Nikon D7000hoping that i can get some use out of it once again after 10 years, i have ordered a new cmos image sensor fron Ali express (following my last failed attempt to clean sensor properly). Camera is otherwise in near perfect condition, although i need to purchase lens/lenses' and a battery. I would appreciate your thoughtson wether this is a good idea or plain daft.

Welcome!
It might be less expensive and easier to just purchase a used camera and lens, KEH and MPB both offer a IIRC 6 month warranty on used equipment.

Thank you and you may be right, however what i failed to say was I have had the camera from new and it has less than 5,000 shutter actuatios.
Also I only have the use of one arm \ hand, So i'm hoping to enjoy the challenge in the exercise and seeing if i can get back to taking some shots on a puerely amateur level.

It seems that I may have been wrong to attempt this project. although I have succesfully removed image sensor ivenoticed that main motherboard has damaged ziff connectors and I'm not confident of refitting them into a new motherboard that i will have to purchase.
However this has peaked my interest in photography and bidding on a used Nikon D700 with nikon f1.8 50mm and 18-55 f3.5 lenses advertised on Ebay

Is there a type here? D700 is a full-frame model and the 18-55mm lens is DX. You would be shooting in crop mode 27-78mm equivalent. Makes a lot more sense if the camera is a D7000, but a D7200 would be far more preferable for only a little more money on used market.

Really you are bidding on the camera body as those 2 lenses are some of the most common and inexpensive used lenses to find out there.
